2000 Hits Blog Candy-

Am just thinking about what are the benefits of making cards? Yes, BENEFITS ! Could you tell me ? I have spent lot's of money on it( and as the currency conversion ) to buy the stamping and cardmaking supplies, to mail the card and spend the postage on it, pay the internet bill, to join the group and to swap with crafters/cardmakers.All these costs A LOT. Should I carry on or give up ?
I love this hobby and moreover I know friends from around the world who have same hobby like me, and I also thinking what should come to the end of my cardmaking episode ? still making cards on my age of 80, if I bless by God? or maybe I have my own of stamping supplies store on my age of 50 ? and may be I can teach the younger of the art of cardmaking ? oh, I don't know, I need to think seriously....or what about your suggestions ? leave your comments here, I really appreciate :-)

As to celebrate the 2000 hits, I will randomly choose a winner who leave an comment here with the suggestion of my thought, yes, let me know what should I do to support my expensive hobby....or any suggestions, opinion regarding it.....

The winner will receive:
* a handmade card from me specially posted for you from Malaysia.
*a little souvenir from Malaysia.
*Chinese Empheras which consist:
Chinese wedding invitation card{very chinese, full of rich red color},red envelopes, chinese news paper for your Asian cards.
*a suprise from me !

So, hurry, I will pick a winner on next Monday,5th November.Don't miss your chance, maybe you are the winner:-))

Hi Ying, please continue this wonderful hobby of card making!!! I never worry about the costs, it has been such a gift from the Lord to be able to create cards and great therapy through rough patches in my life, and I would hope and trust that if I live to be 80, I would still be creating cards, scrapbooks etc.... It is a gift from God :) xxx

Ying....I have been stamping for about 5 years and started to keep my sanity...My daughter had a ruptured brain aneurysm and they sent her home to me to care for...
Firstly, she recovered and is fine but the recovery was long and a dear friend bought me stamps ..Paper..and ink..and the rest is history...I now have the price of a card down to about 52.00 per card....great hobby..and it would be sad for you not to continue as I am sane today thanks to cardmaking which when I am doing it takes my mind off everything...We take pleasure in making the card and people get pleasure from receiving the cards....any hobby that gives pleasure to both the giver and the receiver is worth our time...Hugs Deloris

Hello! I've often thought about the cards I make....when I send it out, I think, "wow, that card cost $200!" LOL!! I didn't want to get into it because of the cost, but it is a very relaxing hobby for me. If you enjoy this hobby, then you should continue it. To save money, I challenge myself to not spend any money on supplies for 3 months. That way I can use up my stash. By the way, you've got some WONDERFUL blog candy!!
Thanks!

Hi! Ying. I've started on cardmaking because of you. So now you know the impact of your own passion. I think it's a definite way to show someone that you care and it's a beautiful thing to receive a handmade card. Everything is heart-felt in a ying-made card!

My advice is too continue, we all need something we enjoy in life. Yet, I suggest to try and do it for waht you enjoy and not the hype of it all. Now when I purchase my stamps I buy only what I love and can afford. I also limit well try and limit how many swaps I am in. Thanks for the chance.

Absolutely you should continue, you make fantastic creations and it would be a shame to waste all that talent! You gave yourself the answer when you said you love it, you can't possibly give up something you love now can you? If you are very concerned about the cost then look towards earning money through your crafts either by selling your cards or teaching others your skills!

Hi Ying ~
Of course you should continue stamping. Anyone who has a hobby will say that it is expensive. Stamping is no different. At least it is legal ~ LOL

Hello Ying, I think you should continue your hobby, but if it is too expensive, maybe you should begin to sell your cards (I am sure people would buy them!). I sell a lot of my cards & have made enough money to buy more stamping supplies! Another idea would be for you to charge a fee to other women who are interested in learning how to create cards. This way you will make new friends & have an income to support your hobby. Best wishes!

hello Ying, I know this is an expensive hobby. But nothing can give you that creative satisfaction like doing something you love and giving it to people you love.
So I would recommend you not to give it up. You could teach other people and thus get money for more supplies. you could sell your cards too..in the local shop or somewhere else..
But I would ask you not to give it up.

Well I just started making cards. I'm actually working on one right now.. and I don't think I'm the best at it in fact I'm scared of stamping! But its not going to stop me OH no as it helps in letting my creative ideas come out and that's what crafting is all about. Its our outlet esp. since I'm a stay at home mom this is my way of remembering that I can be creative and that I can have some me time too and when I finish something for someone I know that I made it with love and its something I made just for them and hope they would cherish it.. so you must going cause its something very special you are doing. Sure it can get expensive at times but you know what at least you are happy and bringing joy to others w/what you do! HUGS

You must carry on making cards,it is such greattherapy and a wonderful way to get some 'me time' for yourself. Can you try and sell some of your cards and recoup some money that way. I will be card making until I no longer can and hopefully my children will carry on crafting for years to come, it is a great way for them to express themselves.

I cant imagine being without my inks and stamps and pretty papers. I know its expensive but I am not into jewelry or partying or fancy clothes. I just am here at midnight in my jammies stamping so happy. Hubby is asleep, my kids are grown and moved away (but one stamps!) so maybe see if your neighbors or church group wants to stamp and swap rather than doing the postal exchange if it gets too expensive. Do you have a scout group you could teach stamping to? There are lots of people who dont know anything about stamping. I remember my sister in law staring at the paper when she first embossed! she was hooked. Dont stop stamping! Have a nice day--oh itss nighttime for you (my hubby is often in China and Korea so I keep a special clock on Asia time!)
off to the gym I am!

Hi Ying, I'm a newbie in stamping world but I think you should continue your great work. It's not a little thing to make smile on somebody's face, no matter how much is the cost.
Love the music, it's great.

Hi Ying! Very thoughtful you are! I think you should keep creating. Maybe you can sell your creations!

I would look into selling your cards.. you could make birthday or wedding invites, bookmarks, notecards, etc.. don't give up!! :) Also, maybe just invest in your very favourite stamps that can be used for multiple cards, etc.. so a vase of flowers. Simple but you could use it for birthday, wedding, congrat's, sympathy, etc.. :)

Hi there. I guess everyone else has said everything I have to say, except that your creativity is a gift from God - something that He delights in. Send a prayer with each card or entry you make.

Please do not give it up until you quit enjoying it. You have been blessed with so much talent, and there are ways to keep the costs down. I enjoy your blog and congrats on the 2000k!

Your work is awesome to stop stamping. Some of my ideas are:

Do workshop and teach your talented to other.

Be a demo with a stamp company.

Sale on ebay and do craft shows.

Open a store and be surrounded by the things you love.

I hope this helps. Thanks for a chance.

Congrats! I'm so glad Allison had you listed and I found your blog.

I never throw anything away no matter what size the scrap is, save it! Then you'll be able to use it at a later date and your supplies will last and last to continue making cards.

Dearest Ying, please never stop this wonderful hobby! Always think of how many friends you have made worldwide, isn't that great? I'm so happy to be one of them!
Wouldn't it be lovely if we could still exxchange cards or cardmaking ideas when we are old - I mean, REALLY old? :-) And of course we can always teach children the wonderful art of cardmaking and rubberstamping... I could also imagine that you can build up your own business one day! So keep on crafting, my dear! Hugs, Birgit :-)

Ying, I truly love your results from all those challenges you have been joining! I should try too one day!

It's great to dream Ying, coz dreams pushes oneself to work hard and it becomes reality. You can start earning now. Your very own online store by selling your cards. In blanks and DIY packs as well as 'speciality' (designed by you). Why wait till 50 when you can do it now.

Hi Ying!
You have to continue to stamp...it is so relaxing! This hobby can be expensive so shop wisely and use your scraps. The joy of giving your cards is a motivation also. Don't quit Ying.

You definately shouldn't give up, you obviously enjoy it so much. When someone receives one of your cards I'm sure they thrilled, and you can't put a price on that!

If you can manage to make a little money from your hobby that is a great way to cover at least some of the expense.

Well here I am at 50+ and just starting out with my rubber stamp cardmaking - so don't give up and look forward to stamping in you 80s. My excuse for buying more rubber stamps - well they are an investment for my grandchildren! Being creative leads to a happy and long life, imo, so carry on enjoying yourself.
